HOW TO START KETO

I have a lot of people reach out to me because they want to know WHERE TO START with Keto. Personally, when I began Keto I was clueless! Starting out, my husband and I emptied our kitchen of all temptations… Bread, pasta, cookies, chips… GONE. Condiments, coffee creamer… everything… GONE. Then, we went grocery shopping with a SIMPLE “Keto Foods List” that we found on Pinterest. Some of the items on that list were actually higher in carbs, so it took some research and a few shopping trips to get it just right. Now that we have been on Keto for over 2 years, we have discovered so many more keto-friendly options than what was on that first Pinterest shopping list. Also, in the beginning, we spent over an hour at the grocery store because we were learning how to read “NUTRITION FACTS” and “INGREDIENT” labels. It may seem difficult and time-consuming, but the math is simple and will help you out tremendously. Once you learn it, Keto is EASY! Here is the breakdown of how to calculate NET CARBS and below that is a more detailed SHOPPING LIST.

(Keep in mind that most Keto Diet guidelines recommend that you keep your daily net carbs below 25… BUT, download the *free* Carb Manager App, input your weight, height, and weight-loss goals, then the app will automatically adjust your net carb allowance for you!)

Do the Math:

Total Carbs - Fiber - Sugar Alcohol = NET CARBS

19 - 2 - 15 = 2 NET CARBS

Because most Keto Diet guidelines recommend that you keep your NET CARBS under 25 grams per day, 2 net carbs is very reasonable.
